Helping the UK's Leading Facial Palsy Charity

We were so excited to be approached by Facial Palsy UK to rebuild their website. Facial Palsy UK had a website with thousands of pages of valuable content, but it was muddled and hard to find. We worked with the team to overhal the organisation of this vast information into easy to navigate categories. The charity also wanted to improve the look of the site to be a clean, responsive, accessible and mobile friendly website. In close collaboration with their team, we designed this beautiful and functional website. Not only does it enable the charity to easily update content, but it also offers greater engagement to users of the site.

Working closely with the team, we helped create a brief for the works in addition to a strategy to ensure successful delivery of the project. This ensured that the site was delivered to the specification that was needed. It also allowed us to extensively develop the site beyond the clients expectations and boost site speed, user experience and traffic. We also saved the charity money on hosting costs, by matching the correct hosting package to suit their needs.

We have continued to work alongside the charity, producing artwork, further site developments and updates, and much much more. We love working with their dedicated and passionate team and are already developing further works to support the charity and gain more donations.

Overall, the new FPUK website is more efficient, user-friendly, and easier for the charity to manage. It also includes a number of features that help the charity to promote its work and build a community around its cause.

Website Design Highlights

We saved the charity money on hosting each year by moving their website to a more efficient and cost-effective hosting provider. We also optimized the website's code and images to reduce the amount of bandwidth required.

We improved the information organisation on the FPUK website by creating a more logical and user-friendly navigation structure. We also made the website's content more concise and easier to read.

We implemented a WordPress CMS that allows the charity to easily update their website content without any technical knowledge required.

We created a custom admin area for the charity to create and manage call-to-action boxes on their website. This allows the charity to easily promote their campaigns and events to their website visitors.

We implemented community photos and comments gallery to allow users to share their own photos and comments about the charity's work - building a community around the charity and encourages people to get involved.

Childrens Book Design

Working with the wonderful team at Facial Palsy UK (www.facialpalsy.org.uk), and the amazing illustrator Andrew Hennessy (www.andrewhennessey.com) was an absolute pleasure. We collaborated to create a book to educate children about facial palsy. The book helps to support the charity and provides life lessons for children and friends with facial palsy.

We wanted the book to be as successful and as beautiful as the illustrations and text, so provided our decades of design-for-print experience to advise on and produce the layout artwork. We provided our services at a heavily discounted rate, so that the charity could raise the maximum possible donations from this book.

Additional Highlights:
Collaborating with illustrator Andrew Hennessy (www.andrewhennessy.com)
Proof reading for the final story
Graphic design for litho printing
Advice and guidance on print production, binding and adhesive stickers

"Our previous website although only a few years old was not mobile or user friendly, and costly to update. We were also paying a large hosting/maintenance fee each month so something needed to change.

We decided it would be more cost efficient to start again and build a new website. We requested several quotes. The only company that offered to visit us to discuss our project in more detail was Red Eight. They really did their homework before our meeting by researching our existing setup and considering what we needed to achieve as a charity. It’s quite daunting revamping a website that isn’t working well for you. We had a lot of content to organise that had previously been difficult to find on the old website.

Red Eight were able to look at our existing setup with a fresh pair of eyes and they made some excellent suggestions how we could improve things. We ended up taking a lot of their advice regarding the layout and colour scheme. As a result many more people are finding our support groups, and website donations have increased. People say to us “You’ve got a lot more content on the new version of your website!” Actually we haven’t changed much about the actual content, it’s just better presented and easier to find! We would definitely recommend Red Eight. Their creative flair and customer service is second to none."
